Summary and additional information from the “Give Me Liberty” Summit
Pastors and ministry leaders from around the state came to Patrick Henry College for the "Give Me Liberty” Summit.
Mike Morisi, VP of Family Foundation’s Church Ambassador Network, reminded the approximate 100 attendees of the moral and scriptural reasons for pastors and churches to speak out for truth.
Virginia Lt. Governor Winsome Sears urged pastors to tell their flocks to vote their Christian values. She recounted passage after passage in Scripture of God telling His people to advocate for godly leaders. For example, Moses to Pharaoh, Nathan to David, Ester, Ezra, Nehemiah, Daniel, and Paul. Here’s an interview with Bill Walton which gives insight.
The Lt. Governor is a hard act to follow, but William Federer jumped right in, addressing the fears of “Christian Nationalism.” This was extraordinary! Read the transcript of a similar talk here.
The President of Patrick Henry College, Jack Hayes shared briefly about the college and led the group in prayer and repentance.
Lt. General Jerry Boykin, Family Research Council’s Executive Vice President, gave an entertaining and inspiring presentation featuring many of his war stories of how his faith accompanied him in battle. Many of his accounts are covered in his book, Never Surrender, A Soldier’s Journey to the Crossroad of Faith and Freedom.
Direct descendants of Patrick Henry, Joyce Morrow and Patrick Henry Jolly, both spoke. Patrick Henry Jolly, dressed in colonial costume, gave a dramatic presentation of Patrick Henry’s famous speech followed by his personal comments about the relevance of his speech to today.
Black Robe Regiment founder Bill Cook introduced many Black Robe Regiment state leaders from around the country and motivated everyone to stay involved.
